Mine's the same - not a problem though as the content is worth a thousand times the £33 it cost to buy. (Don't get any ideas about putting the price up though Steve!!)

Colour would be nice though !!!

shpub will no doubt comment.... Steve........

I suspect the Bible is B&W to keep the printing costs down. And as plipton says the content is certainly well worth the £33.

I think SHPub is doing his bit for the economy and using recycled paper! It is however very useful and legible. BUT! - I do think the binding could be improved without adding too much to the cost (i mentioned this in an earlier thread, but no comment).

I was surprised how huge the new bible is.
Well worth spent money and extremely helpfull.
We are very very lucky to have this helpfull tool and I wish such books would be available for all interesting (at least for me) cars.
As I would appreciate a full colour version very much, I guess if Steve would make it available for such a small edition it would be unaffordable for us at the end. (and covered in leather of course for me, or maybe a cheaper half-hide version)

If my brain serves me right, could it be that the now old bible (200 pages) was similar price as the far bigger new one. (more than 400 pages).
If we want somebody to support us with that kind of great help(the bible) we have to do our part to support it in buying it.
As many people here already said, it is well spent money and if you solve one only problem on your car with its help, it has more than paid itself.
Go on Steve!!!

Couldn't agree more.
Mine arrived last week and I think Steve has done a fantastic job considering that TVR, to some extent, rely on after-sale problem fixing/servicing etc via the TVR dealership chain.
The information supplied, therefore, is more than generous IMHO.

and using recycled paper!

Errr. I think you'll find that recycled paper is a lot more than the normal stuff!

1. The paper is not recycled. Yes recyled paper is more expensive. The colour was chosen after several consumer tests because it is a more consistent colour and with white paper, the paper colour can change. So the printing costs would have been higher as the printer would have had to match whites.

2. The costs have been kept down because all the book printing is now done through one company and this gives me some economy of scale without having to commit to huge print runs. The incremental cost basically helps cover the additional pages. We have kept it at the absolute minimum.

3. I did look into a full colour one but with the print costs alone up in £100 mark it simply is not feasible to do for all of them. It might be possible to do a limited edition version using a hi resolution color printer that will bring the costs down and that might well be feasible. It does sound as if there is an interest. The basic material is in colour so as soon as cost permit and colour printing does get cheaper every day, I can switch. Even looked at some colour but it was a case of having more pages in B&W or a lot less (and less info) in colour.

I am planning a colour version as a trial run as a raffle prize at Back Home.

4. The binding issue is wierd in that I had several test runs made up before the book went out and they showed no problems. Not all the books have showed it either (typical TVR problem )

I have shown one of the faulty copies to the printers and they have noticed an intermittent fault with the comb itself and an alternative is now being used.

Anyway thanks for the feedback. It took me around 2000 hours to update the new edition and I have to admit it drove me crazy at times but I think it was worth it in the end. It is a process that never stops. Took another 35 pictures down at Tower View including a Tuscanised 5 litre 4.x car that I had heard rumours about but have finally seen!

No, but if Steve was trying to keep costs down, he'd hardly print it on expensive recycled would he?

Steve, rereading the bit about the white paper, can't understand this as yeah there are different 'whites', but they are just different brands of paper!

I did say consumer tests.... It was almost a unanimous vote for the tinted paper compared to the whites and add to that even the same brand will have white paper variation, and the tinted paper was cheaper and consistent, it was a no brainer really.

i feel like re-explaining something as i dont wanna be misunderstood.
theres no doubt that Steve did a great work ...
i was only suprised to receive the book in a totally diffrent format than the one i was expecting.
so i just wanted to confirm it because i thought maybe even Steve was not aware of it as he had the example chapters of his book in totally different format .
thanks.

I think the book is nothing less than superb. I have to use books as tools in my job, designing scale model wooden ship kits (v expensive!), and the pros and cons of economics must be weighed up before things go into production. The pics in the book do their job perfectly, whether in b+w or colour.
Steve has also sent me a new copy after seeing on here that I mentioned the binding. The very nice chap even signed it, I am chuffed to bits! If there were more people like Mr Heath, who is so obviously passionate about what he does, I think this country would be a much better place, economically at least.
My own personal thoughts of course.
