I recently changed one of the rear bulbs on my Chim. I am wondering if I have got the wrong bulbs though, as the lights now seem very bright. The bulbs are rated at 21/5W. Can you get them the wrong way round? i.e. I have got 5/21W and therefore the brake lights come on when the rear side lights come on and vice versa?

Thanks,

Jamie.

The bulbs are usually an offset bayonet fitting so you should only be able to put it in correctly. Try refitting the bulb twisted through 180deg. (If it will go in).

The offsetting can be back to front though, if the tail light is brighter than the brake light, then change the bulb again

Really? So it's pot luck that you get one the correct way round? I've never found this in all the cars I've changed bulbs in over a verrrrry long period. Surely there's a spec or convention to avoid this?
But I suppose I haven't included the TVR factor have I?

The UN passed a resolution about this a couple of months ago but unfortunately as the plastic holders that were used for the lights were not informed, a stalemate has been reached where it is has been reported that the use of force has resulted in an about turn in rear light policies.

Just because it shouldn't fit doesn't mean it can't!
Has happened before and I suspect it will happen again.

Not (as far as I'm aware, a TVR problem) and of the (must be) 100s I've changed I've only ever found 2 the wrong way round, but they are out there, just check before you put it back together

Anyone tried those LED bulbs? (A cluster of 9 or so LED's grouped together into a bulb holder)... oh, and are they road legal / "E" marked...?
