I have noticed that the carpet in front of the center heater vents is getting wet, the bit where the electric windows are worked from!!
Now know that the water is from the window washers so there must be a t piece in the water pipe behind the dash that has come apart or the pipe has split or melted on something
Has anyone had this happen before and can give directions to get behind there or shall i just forget the window washers and stay away from the car or truck in front and leave this on the jobs to do list
any ideas welcome thanks Ron

Hi Ron,

this is covered in the second edition of Steve Heath's Bible (there's even some of my pictures in it of the dash removal & washer assembly)
Summary - you have to remove the dash & then remove an access panel/cut an access panel to get at the squirter T-piece, depending on what age car you have.
This is probably a 2 hour job, but you need to be careful with the dash, so as not to mark the leather, or crack the wood veneer (a few tea-towels can come in handy)

Craig Thanks for the reply, Chim is 3 years old and i can see no other reason for water than this t piece parting under preasure from the blockage of the little holes in the rubber pipe at the window wiper,Have you had the same or similar problem or are you talking from knowing someone else with this problem, I feel that i must invest in a bible and get in there sooner or later thanks Ron

Yes I had the same problem (pretty much the sum total of problems with the car in it's second year )
I reckoned that the reason it happened was that the feeder pipe that travels past the steering column was under constant tension & just eventually popped off (ie it was slightly too small)
Since it has been superglued on, along with an extension pipe, it has never happened again....

PS Definately get the Bible
