nearly 32. I always thought the interior of my Chimaera looked like it was designed by H.G. Wells. Here's hoping I can gain some extra years.

Bought at 25, now 26.
Insurance is still a nightmare as the car was my first. £1850 or so last year, £1750 this year - Direct Line for both.

How strange. All the Chimp drivers I know are old gits with beards and no hair on top. Note the extravagant use of baseball caps that never leave the head...
Oh, before you ask, I'm 56 and drive a Wedge. It only costs me £190 a year fully comp. Tee Hee!

I'm also somewhat relieved - I had images of going along to some of the meets and finding myself the youngest by a long way!

I see you're based in Herts, if you are able to get along to any of the Herts/Beds meets in Harpenden I may well see you there, a fellow youngster! I'm 22 and was 20 when I got my Chim. The first question I get because I do look young is always about insurance! Then I get the drive carefully talk aswell. In spite of age everyone is always very friendly and I'm always impressed how unprejuduced the TVR bunch are. Having had the Chimaera for almost two years now I can't imagine being without it, it's fantastic and I could only replace it with another TVR.

Chris

I look forward to seeing you there! I intend on getting into the whole social scene surrounding TVRs as well, and - time allowing - will be attending as many meets as I can!

The pub might do a good turn in 'real ale' from many regulars of TVR meets, but it's good to see from this thread that there'll be a few Buds and mixers sold as well. :P

Cheers,
Gareth

a-hem.. I was,er, 43 on Saturday and I spent the day waxoyling the car whilst it was up on a hydraulic lifter at a friend's garage (I'd been quoted £130 for this work- this way it was £28 for the stuff and several beers for my friend- a girl!).

Good thing too- we're taking the Chimaera up to Scotland on Wednesday- and I spotted a fairly large nail-head sitting flush in the tread of the rear n/s tyre!(would never have seen it if the car wasn't in the air). We took it to National Tyres and they put in a plug. The thought of that large nail popping out on the M6...

Anyway- I really admire you guys in your early twenties driving TVRs. You sound a lot more sussed than I know I would've been driving a V8 at 21.

Happy motoring,
Kenny

I met a Tuscan S owner once who I think was about 20! Dotcom something or other I think...

Stoppped getting older at 28, off to see Placebo on Wednesday....for my B/day. Its great cos I can be mature in my Saab 9000 Abbott conversion and a child in the Purplemonster500 (Chimy)and pXXX off the boy racers in both!!!!!.

But I have to say I have met such a great spread of peeps through owning the TVR.

got in when was 30 ... now 32. And don't let anyone tell you getting a little older is without consequences. I've recently started putting on weight every time I pick up a glass of anything worth drinking, and hair has started growing on my ears.
