Wanted TVR at 19 (sat in a Vixen at Earls Court Motor Show - £998 17s 6p as a kit)
Bought my first TVR (a brg 1991 S3) at age 52 yrs. It IS worth holding on to your dreams as they can come true one day.

I will be spending Easter servicing & polishing my S3, ready to sell so that I can upgrade to a Chimera (looking for a very good 4.5 R or S plate and have cash!)

Matt - I know you upgraded last year, please email me with any good tips. I am currently reading from cover to cover the SH bible.

Ehehm, everyone keeps saying this,

but IMHO, the only lucky bastids who have one at our age, are the ones with silver spoons in thier mouths, or the ones who dont deserve it, as they havent worked for it.

I dont know about the rest of you, but I dont consider myself lucky at all, I worked v.hard to get where I am, sacrificed alot, and, as a result, have the means to enjoy nice cars...

I wouldnt call that lucky, as its repeatable by anyone.

just my 2p

Hi all,

I got my first TVR Cerbera at 21, going on 23 cerbie been sold cause of new baby and house move but, may be placing an order later this year for a T350C, just gotta wait and see how the business performs over the next few months.

Also i have work my a55 off to get what i have got, 3 business's wife and 2 kids and a custom built house to my designs with no mortgage. i have been working 18hours a day for 7 days a week for a while now and through hard work like many on here have managed to get the toys they have.

But someone i know from university when 18 had a lotus elis given him by his dad now he has a esprit also given to him by his dad. I did not get on with him and i will never get along with people who are given everything with out doing any work. Also compares to the City people who buy the car as a status symbol and has no respect for the marque of its heritage.

But its good to know that there are some young TVR owners out there.

Cheers

Steve

No silver spoons here... I've worked hard and earned my wheels! Progressed quickly through the ranks to a great salary - my luck lies in the fact that so far in my professional life, my good work has been noticed by people that matter and I've been rewarded accordingly.

And it's all gone towarads my love of cars - Most of what I earn goes into getting me mobile. Nothing to do with status either - to my mind you just can't match the feeling you get from a truly great car.

Happiness is a V8, an open road and the wind in your hair... then suddenly the work is all worth it.

Check my profile and look at what my first car was... That should prove the lack of a silver spoon better than anything! And you know I'm not lying either... you just wouldn't lie about something like that!!!!

My point was, your only 'a lucky bastid' is you didnt deserve how you got it, by working a job you got thru hard work/skills/being good, you made your own way...

anyway, congrats to us all

Council-house background. Dad a skilled manual worker. O-level education - 5yr apprenticeship on a pittance. Higher technical college qualifications. Up the ladder, down the snake. Never had enough dosh for anything like a Trev. Always a boyhood dream .

When I wa in my 20's NOBODY had a TVR or anything like it. I managed a few of BL's offerings (frogeye, BGT, B roadster) all well under a grand. Then MARRIAGE put paid to any other aspirations. Had to wait until I was nearly bloody 50 before I could afford the luxury - but then it's a week-end toy, not an everyday car. Anyway, now into my 6th year in TVR-bliss!
