Good luck with the lift, I also thought i had the body stuck at the rear but it turned out to be the weight!!! The rear is by far the back breaker. I used 5 people for a griff body and to be honest it wasn't enough.

Good idea about the roof and i am seriously thinking of putting that back on...

The plan is to get the whole car out onto the drive.
Dont know if you remember but there is a wall between my drive and the neighbours. Get some long lumps of wood and lift the body as high as possible, put one end of the wood on the wall and then hold the other with the body on top...once all is clear push the chassis back into the garage and then leave the body outside sitting on the drive.

Was thinking of doing it on saturday...that way i have got all day sunday to get the chassis stripped and over to the blasters next week and then i can move the body into the garage...

I have got three or four guys to help already...but as said before...the more the easier.

Well ahead of schedule here...!!!

A couple of Questions. How much does the body weight? is it possible to snap it in the middle?.
On the electrical front, I assume that there is no multiway connector at the bulkhead, so did you disconnect and lable all connectors in the engine bay etc or did you pull the cable from inside the passenger footwell through the bulkhead into the engine bay.
Reasons for asking as i will be doing a body off in the next couple of weeks, hoping to have a good look this weekend so I know what I need to undo/disconnect etc.

The body is very heavy at the rear, i have managed to lift the front a few inches but the rear is solid.
Not sure if it is possible to snap it in the middle...the center tunnel is high and will provide good support, but i am going to have as many people lifting as possible so hopefully i wont have to find this out.
There is no multiway connector (wishfull thinking) Unfortunately there will be on mine when i have finished...i am going to mount the fuse box in the cubby hole behind the passenger seat and the ecu is going behind the the drivers seat...should sort out and water problems in the future and makes access soooooooo much easier. Label everything up very carefully with a perm marker pen mark the connectors and next to where it plugs on.
If you have a digital camera take as many pictures as you can...i have got about 6 of the alternator...sooo many of the ns of the engine i got bored taking them. If i undid a bolt i took before and after pictures including a close up so i could see the washer sequence. Total over kill i know but you always hit something where a picture can really help out.

Petrol tank and the roof has been the hardest thing to remove so far.

You dont need to take the doors off if you are not respraying the car but it helps to get access to the chassis bolts in the front of the footwells.

If you stripped the dash there are multi-connectors there. Its not so hard to pop the terms in the big ones so they would fit thru the bulkhead grommet hole (which isnt so big). But if you are planning to remove the engine ~ I would guess most people lift up the engine loom with the body..

I am going to take the dash off tonight so i can have a look then...the only other thing i have not done yet is the water pipes for the heater matrix...best get that done as well....oh and the speed sgnal wires...i know the top of the dash is easy to lift off...whats the bottom like...easy, pig of a job or censored, it looks easy enough...

Never had that off Andy, but you can get at most of the loom & connectors with the top off + dash panels removed (instruments & radio panel),

Theres FA space to get your hands in behind the engine tho....

Just a note; have a look at the heater duct that goes across the back of the engine, I've seen a lot with holes/tears in ~ a likely candidate for replacement.

i am going to look at the whole heater system and see if there is a way of upgrading the fan to something that actually moves air out and see if i can copy the drivers side cool air blower to the passenger side to keep the the throttle limit happy when she is in!

Thats the annoying thing...somone is going to get a good car out of this...new respray, good as new chassis, retrimmed interior (seats, carpets, dash and doors) engine strip and rebuild and a new hood. Still, at least i will have it for the summer months!
