ok, I keep reading that I should expect to need the following, once I turn 40k

Cams
Diff Recond
Clutch

Atm, car is 37k, and strong as an ox, cant think of anything that even seems like it needs doing.

Was recently dynod, and kickig out mucho power, so cams seem fine, Tyres Light up easily, with plenty of feel from the clutch, so that feels fine, and the car still seems to go round rouadabouts fine, so diff seems fine.. BUT.
just wondering,

Should the time arise,

what will the costs associated be, and given experience, what will the warranty wear.

Anything else to look out for ?

atm, i think the car is the best its ever been,,,

Thanks Chaps

Weeeelll, 66k later am on a new diff and clutch, cam/lifters are getting noisy so I'm going to try a suitable cam with a set of solid lifters courtesy of V8 Developments.

At around 40,000 miles you become seriously paranoid. If you believe all you read you become terminally paranoid.

What a load of Crap - who ever told you this is taking the piss. Cam should be fine if engine well serviced, warmed up properly should do double that easy. Diff - same. Clutch is down to how you drive and may go at anytime, if you don't slip it all the time should be ok for 40+ (mine is ok - original on 43k but I recon it will go before 50 - big deal just put another on).

But Diff and cam down to servicing mainly. Its only a Rover V8 not a ferrari! These things are good for a couple of 100k miles in Vitesses and the cam isn't a crazy one. Clonking round the diff more likely to be drive shaft spines every time, good for a strip de-burr and repack (get you another 20k miles) before you need new ones.

Cheers

I recently read a thread which mentioned a figure close to £800 (ouch). Can't find it now

I've been told by Steve Howard and Ray at V8 Developments that the cams 'go' after about 40k, I don't consider myself to be enough of an expert to disbelieve them. There seems to be a lubrication issue for the lobes at the back of the cam which causes premature wear. My diff was rebuilt and the clutch has been replaced at around 45k miles, I got the receipts if you wanna see em.
