Insurance quotes - if you are interested!
Discussion
To answer the usual 'how much / where to go for insurance' question, here is my contribution for those lucky enough to have to renew soon:
Sunninghill: £1109, Track day cover, unknown xs (they never answered the email)
Peart: £996.50, TVR Car club track day cover, 450 xs, but didn't ask questions about my wifes points so didn't trust the quote!
Tesco: £934, No track day I assume, 250 xs
AJ Manning £919.65, TVRCC Track day cover, 300xs
This is for 99 Chimaera 450 , Garaged, West Sussex, 12000 miles, business use, Wife on policy with 3 points, me clean, both thirty somethings .
I went with AJ Manning. Interestingly (or not) I now insure a Volvo T5, Focus 2.0 and the TVR for the same amount as the TVR cost me in 2000. Some benefit I guess to getting older...
Paul.

blimey corin, you got a storming deal!
i went with manning for 850 with 550 excess.
egg camme in cheaper but of course no track day cover, and as there was only 60 quid difference it made sense to go with manning.
i use the car to commute, so sunninghill gave me a right shoeing - they wanted over 1k!

Classic Line from Sprint Mag.....
96P Chim 4.0HC
£495 with 5,000 miles limit, garage (essential), second car, No no claims bonus for second car but asked me to demonstrate I had full on my crrent every day car. Can't remember xs or if track cover is included. I do have some claims history within the last couple of years as well. I have owned other performance cars in the recent past which was a question I kept getting asked.
I was happy with this as noone else came that close.

Nevin said: Sound like bargains to me. I have a P reg Chimaera in London. I'm 28. Sunninghill were by far the cheapest at £1500. Next best quote was about £2400!!

Try Classicline (advertises in Sprint). I am 28, drive a Chim and am living in Central London. I paid around £720 for the year, which was a cheaper premium compared to my old 3 series...!! Weird...

Tamago, it sounds like you work in my office doing my job as well (pretty much, although I do infrastructure, property and oil finance) and am at Liverpool Street as well. Scary.
Classicline could be worth a try when I come to renew though. Some places were well over 3 grand Is your Chim garaged? I park mine on street overnight.

Hi Nev
Welcome to the TVR experience. There is a City meet at Dirty Dicks (Bishopsgate) every month, bring your Chim in then!
Are you a trainee? 6 months in Moscow? The only firm with a Moscow office around here is probably Herbies...
Seems to be quite a few legal types here, Tamgirl (also a lawyer and owns a pearl white Tamora) works off London Wall...

Hi Tamago. I heard about the Dirty Dicks meets previously but hadn't thought any more about them until now, so may well come along.
Despite the generous salaries I don't think trainees can afford Chim's yet, not if they have to pay rent anyway, although I could be wrong. 2yr pqe and anyone here can volunteer to go abroad for 6 months if they want. You got the firm right though.
Which firms do you and Tamgirl work for? And are you not supposed to post stuff on bulletin boards at work, like me?
Do people actually drive their cars in on the days of the City meets?

It is the first Monday of each month! I think people filter down there from about 7pm...
Having said that I havent been in a while due to mindless hours in the firm but will make more of an effort next mth...DDs is just the sort of drinking den i think most pistonheaders would enjoy!

Just renewed with Tescos ... if you hold their shares, sell them now.
£1500, street parking in north London, 6 points on license, 32yrs old, and two big claims in the last two years (total of £11.5k). 7 years NCB. Another claim in next 12 months and that will drop to 5 years.
Personally, I think I just met Father Xmas. They must be selling a lot of sprouts if they are still happy to ensure me.

Sorry to the originator for hijacking this thread somewhat (Nevin you have a personal message). I'd also like to add that my car is garaged which can explain why my quote was lower than Nevins.
Also, it seems that you have to convince the brokers that you have owned a high performance car in the past for at least a year before they accept your risk...

Yeah, garage definitely helps. One company quoting persisted with the garage point. Do you have a garage? Are you sure? Is there anyway you could get it garaged?
Hmm, if you want to pay for one I suppose.
I could have lied to them I suppose, but it just comes back to bite you.
Tamago, email is home address so will check tonight. Nev

Sunninghill: £1109, Track day cover, unknown xs (they never answered the email)
AJ Manning £919.65, TVRCC Track day cover, 300xs
I went with AJ Manning.
Interesting, 'cos I was with Mannings last year and when the renewal came through they'd increased the premium to a point that made me look around again - they also said it was their best deal.
I found Sunninghill's were considerably cheaper (I live in Wiltshire).
When I told Mannings that I was taking my custom elsewhere, they asked why I hadn't called them to negotiate!
Moral: When that renewal notice comes through the letterbox, tell them to go away and come back with a better deal!
