It seems there is no logic as to where you should go for best deal. Each company assesses each situation differently. You MUST shop around.

I had quotes generally £5-600, some as high as £1000, but got an exceptional quote of £349 from Manning - bit his hand off!

4.3 Chim, Derbys, garaged, 3000m p/a, 45day green card - supplied, protected NCB, blah blah. Old fart, 25 yr license + NCB + Last policy for F348s + tvrcc

Griff, £1200. But...
Unlimited Trackdays. No XS (apart from the windscreen..). Full Europe cover. Full Breakdown cover. 38. Absolutely appalling driving record (but no accidents, ever). TVRInsurance (via Sprint). I think they're underwritten by Norwich Union
Will go down to £700 at the end of the year.

Sounds expensive, but so does £800 with full NCB for an Espace, so maybe it's your postcode (or are you just out on parole? )

Increasing your excess makes a big difference to quotes. IMHO it's not worth claiming if damage is your fault and repairs are <£1000, so you might as well have a higher excess. When you claim, you not only loose NCB, but your renewal (for both cars!) will go up 10-20% because you are now a higher risk - and it usually applies for 5 years.

If you have no claims on another car, try Heritage from Sprint magazine or Auto Torq from PH Classifieds. They give individual quotes and don't use NCB, so you keep it for your other car.

Heritage have an admirably british attitude to track days too, no additional excess for TVR Club track days. After all, that's what these cars are for.

Some insurance companies, admittedly the minority, refund on a pro-rata basis (a broker will probably keep their commission). Might still be worth shopping around some more, when the sun's gone in maybe.
