Any problems? Anything I need to be aware of?
Going over to Lille on Monday for a few days and it's the first time I've used the train for a TVR.

No problems with my Griff, top or bottom although the attendents usually direct me to the lower deck probably because it is a sports car? Rich...

I've done a couple of return trips to Europe via the Eurotunnel in the Chimaera and haven't had any problems; as Rich says, just make sure you are on the lower deck - the second of the entrances to the train.

I was directed onto the upper deck after I checked with the guys directing cars around. No problems at all, just took it easy on and off the ramps.

Sadly my 100A fuse went that day, but I'm pretty certain it's unrelated.

Excellent news, cheers guys.
Must say I am really looking forward to the trip, AutoRoute has the terminal to Lille centre as just over an hour, tweaking the settings a bit gives me a 2 hour 10 minute jaunt across the French countryside - oh bliss!

Should add that IMO the tunnel really is the most civilised way to cross the channel. Rich...

Cheers Big Al, Ben.
Looking at the thread in Le Mans forum about the police cracking down, I'll mostly be taking it nice and easy.

Don't you find it needs lots of revs to get up those ramps onto the top deck?

We took over a Tamora last year to Lemans and the chap in front of me had a very large American convertible - he wanted to see what engine we had in the TVR...

I opened the bonnet to show him and about a minute later a man in a blue coat rushed over to me and said it was effecting his heat sensors could we please shut it.

Well I could just see the headlines now..TVR brings chaos on the chunnel..

Just another reply to say its no problem.

Took my Chimaera to Munich via the tunnel a few weeks back. The French (at least) seem to really appreciate the car.

Personally I find the ferry more civilised. The tunnel is just dull!

Well guys, of course it did fit. Although they were loading cars on the upper deck on the way back and we were well loaded up (exhausts clipping kerbs etc) so I asked to go downstairs the chap was cool and let us wait which meant we were first off
If anyone has never done it I would heartily recommend taking a TVR to France/Belgium, the looks you get from the smallest kid to the oldest granny are superb - sheer and utter admiration.
One pedestrian in Lille crossed the road in front of us then stood staring open mouthed in the oppostie carriageway until a car nearly ran him over!
The other amazing thing is the space French drivers give you, ordinarily they are over you like a rash but in the TVR I was always given about a foot all round - superb.
I never really believed all the stories of how they stare etc, trust me they are true.
Car behaved faultlessly as per usual in temeratures reaching high 20's even stuck in city traffic the engine never rose above 95. Never a glitch. Until the day after we got home and 2 small stone chips decided to join up in the windscreen and we now have a very nice crack 1/4 the way across the screen

Cheers for all the advice.

Just a general warning from me for all sportscar drivers. My porker 996tt which has lower suspension than the standard 996, got up the ramp to the top deck of the train OK, however when exiting the front lower spoiler got caught at the bottom of the ramp.

Moral of the story, just because you got on OK, don't go hooning it off, take it slowly.
