During the winter I am going to replace the carpets and was going to try and find some heat resistant material to put under the carpets to save me self basting next summer.

Can anyone suggest such a product

thanks

maybe for this purpose, you could try the reflective stuff you can buy (try B&Q) for putting behind house hold radiators.

Alternatively try Merlinmotorsports.co.uk as they sell loads of heat insulation and reflective stuff - it justs costs a bit more than the B&Q solution.

But presumably you it would need to be on the outside (i.e. underneath) of the car to "refect" the heat away, otherwise you are talking about insulation ?

I guess you're right - can't remember those far off Physics lessons.

However, the stuff I have used in the past has been both insulation and reflective.
Not sure, but I think reflection of radiant heat can be throught surfaces and not necessarily open to the air.

So far I have only done the air intake in my engine bay, but under full power this does seem to help a bit - but that is a different story.
