I'm trying to sort some breakdown cover, probably via the RAC. AJ Manning told me that there was a TVR car club discount? Anyone know about this as I can't find a number for the club office.

I want the RAC as one policy will cover me and my wife for any car we are driving, unless anyone has a better idea!!

Thanks

No idea about the RAC but the AA have a very good parts & labour deal for their members. So good in fact that it is worth becoming an AA member to access it.

When I insured my Chim the cheapest quote was with Sunninghill, it includes free RAC cover. Might be worth remembering when renewal time comes?

Unless the rest have stopped giving it too cannot see that working. Peart, Manning and Sunninghill all included it 6 months ago. Will ring them Monday and see what the score is.

it used to be the case that the rac only covered your car, whereas the aa had the advantage of covering any car you were ( ahem ) travelling in - maybe this has changed and the rac cover matches the aa these days? - don't know.
i'm with the aa, ( with a chap from work - we're, ahem, brothers and so we both get full cover for half price, effectively as he is on the cover as a family member ).
do you know someone else ( a, err, family member? )who needs breakdown cover?
i only used them once last year, i think, so it's not as though they are being turned over or anything.
they have always done a great job when i've needed them - and they've always been reasonable chaps.

Sunninghill no longer do breakdown on the insurance cover, and AJ Manning put me onto RAC saying club discount.

We have three cars in the household (with two drivers) and AA were offering free 2nd membership outside halfords this mornign. Couldn't find the bloke to ask though. Search continues...

Actually it's quite the reverse I've been with the RAC for about 20 years, and in all that time it's been you that was covered. The AA only started this a few years ago, and made a big song and dance about it on their TV ads, as if they were the only people doing it. Personal cover with the RAC is great. I've been brought home with a few different vehicles, including a mini bus I was comng home from work in

Spoke to Sunninghill about breakdown cover, absolutely right it is no longer included and is now an extra. Simple reason for an increase in the premiums - too many claims. Some interesting statistics came up in the conversation, more than half the cars on their books are Chims. The rest of the cars on their books in the TVR scheme obviously being all other TVRs ever made.

Tuscan drivers have made more claims than all the Chim drivers and all other TVR drivers put together.

Hi Ivan, that material is priceless, so it's the Tuscan drivers that are the main cause for our premiums to keep rising!

Suggest you get a post going over on the Tuscan forum, I would imagine the replies should be interesting to say the least.
