Whining Diff/Checking Limited Slip

Are the early Chimaera diffs known for their whining and also, how can a limited slip be checked to see if it works?

I think the diffs do whine, well the one on my 93 4ltr does.

To check if the limited slip is working you could jack up both rear wheels and try turning one whilst holding the other stationary - well whilst somebody else holds it stationary unless you have very long arms If there is significant resistance this will indicate limited slip whereas a normal diff will let you turn one wheel whilst the other is stationary.

Not particularly scientific but should give an indication.
