Rear Wheels Bearings

Has anyone done one of these???, are they difficult??, Have just got my car back together and they is a pit of play in one of the rear wheels!!!, before I drop it off the axle stands was going to do this if not too difficult!!. Does the hub have to come off the car for this or can you remove the bearing leaving it on???
