I've heard of them, but I'm not sure they're a proven hi performance tyre manufacturer. Since the only thing between me and the road is 4 tyres I'd rather spend a few quid extra and get something which is known to work well on a powerful RWD car.

All IMHO.

Kumho isn't it? I remember them as a cheapo tyre but things may have changed, had a set on the Saab and they appeared to be made of Teflon

Not sure what happened there ? I have just replaced my front tyres ( about an hour ago )I did consider the Kumo tyres ( about £58 for 225 50 ZR15 )but was not sure of the quality so went for Bridgestone SO3's in the end £207 all in .Ready for Le Mans now

I ended up with a pair on a Tractor Unit a couple of years ago. They were rubbish. Cheap but wore out in no time. My wife bought a car which had a set on it. They were rubbish also. Getting what you pay for is very much the case with tyres. I would not put them on a Morris Minor, never mind a TVR !! The whole idea of a £15k sports car suspended from imminent disaster by a set of tyres at 4 for £200 would terrify me.

Our Volvo T5 had Kumhos when we bought it. Seemed OK at first, especially in the wet, but became rock solid in cold weather (ever had that hexagonal tyre feeling?!). Replaced with SO3 so I get to sleep at night. Not that I'm a fan of those, either...

If you're after a chapish tyre that's not too abysmal (to misquote The Rocky Horror Show) try Uniroyal 440's.
