I can't confirm it, but I can confirm that my 5l had standard Rover rockers from Real Steel fitted 6000 miles ago and its still running.
A weakness in the V8 engine is the weight of the timing gear. Unless you're doing other things to increase the rpm - what do you want steel one's for?
The rocker shaft posts are machined (or shimmed) suit your individual engine. Doing anything other than fitting standard rockers opens up a can of worms.
David Hardcastles 'tuning the Rover V8' book gives some tips for improving the rocker gear though.

If you look in the bible you will see why many including me think that the standard Rover rocker arms are not very good.... They can crack and loose their hardened pads. .
When mine died, they got replaced with steel ones along with the rocker assemblies etc. Not much more expensive but a lot stronger.

Thanks all for your input, I think it'll have to be steel ones as I have a bad rocker arm just now. Have read the 'Bible' from cover to cover (sad??) and it's excellent but unfortunately I don't have it with me at the mo. It's proved invaluable for looking after an 8 year old Chim.
