Hi,
I was surprised this was'nt in the FAQ's - but here goes.

How much to replace a windscreen ?

From Steve's Bible it appears to be a dealer job rather than Autoscreen.

With the whiting at the bottom of the screen - how long can this be left before the replacement is necessary.

thanks

Good question! I don't know how much - but I do know, never take it to Autoglass etc - stick with the specialists. I believe it is a tricky job to remove the old one without damaging the dash trim. If ever an insurance job and they have a deal with Autoglass etc, insist it still goes back to a proper TVR dealer otherwise it may cost extra to have the trim repaired.

I believe the white at the edges has something to do with delamination due to humidity at the time of fitting, some cars are worse than others.....but that could be complete tosh!

Its normally an insurance job so you don't see the cost but it is around the 300-400 pound mark. Some insurance companies insist on using Auto-*** just make sure that the guys that come and do it, know what they are doing. Some don't and have wrecked the interior. Ask them questions and make sure you feel confident. Some of their fitters do know what they are doing but most from my experience do not.

My last two claims have been on the Wedge and Tower View did them and I claimed it back with no problem.

As for milkyness, a cosmetic thing really. How much does it annoy you?

steve,
Not that much - just wondered how much to get it improved before the summer season - sounds like I'll wait till I get a chip or something then claim on the insurance and pay the excess.

RAC arranged for my Chimaera Screen to be changed by their own Screen division last April. They sourced the screen from the factory so there was a two day delay.
Fixed under insurance so I paid just the £50.00 excess but the overall cost was £270.00 fitted.
No complaints at all, they did a great job and cleaned the cars inside and out prior to me collecting it from their Coventry branch.
