Right then, greetings to all – new to all this. Looking to buy a Chimaera and not that experienced so am wondering why all the luvverly colours are only on the newer ones?

All the 93, 94, 95 ones etc seem to be three types of green, cureton, starmist or cooper, same with the blues, mica, starmist etc. When did the funky colours start – purple paradise etc!!

I like the darker colours you see but don't know if I can stretch to the newer car prices and hence the colours!!

All help appreciated!!

You could get lots of colours even back in '93. However, more recently (say, '97 onwards) there has been a trend for more purples/golds and other pearlescents (orange comes to mind) etc. The funky colours that change colour as the car drives past are more recent too. Your 'problem' is that back in the old days people ordered their TVRs in more classic colour combinations and perhaps weren't as adventurous as today - TVRs aren't now seen as traditional sportcars.

Keep looking there are plenty of unusual colours that exist on the older models. Trefor is correct though - most of the earlier models came in "classic" colours like dark blue, dark green and the like - but there are ones around that exist of more unusual schemes....

Apache has one for example....
