RE: Prices for Chimaeras

Right, its getting dull and boring now with regards to how much they are worth and not paying £3 over the "supposed" reasonable price.

It is all down to condition, colour, specification and a whole load of other things. If you can get a buyer for a car at a high price then good on you - if you get it for cheaper then great. But they are 100% specialist cars and should be treated as so. They are not Mondeos where there are 100 waiting in Cannock - their value is totally dependant on hundreds of conditions.... There are no fixed guideline prices....

I paid £14k for a 94 4.0HC. Was I ripped off - NO. The car has cost be a total of £100 (and that was my fault). Not only am I happy with the colour, but I am also happy with most other things - except the seats which are showing their age a little, but what do you expect for 8 years old!!!

Personally I would never pay over £10k for a BMW, but that doesnt stop anyone else...

Cheers,

Paul

Agree with all you say Paul, especially the last bit

lets just say the guy whom started this thread as a obvious plug for his (for sale) chimp has probably realised it was a naive thing to do.

there is a realistic selling price and a realistic buying price, with TVR you rarely get either...witness dealers buying a car for 13k and selling it for 18k

It is pretty obvious that if you say is my car 'higher or lower' than 16,995 then half are going to say lower and the other half higher. I guess it depends if you are a realist that has ever sold one or a optimist whom seems to think you can recover whatever you paid

rant over, please dont ban me ted - for talking words of wisdom

A car is only worth what a buyer will pay!

End of story ...

If Nora can hold out to get £16,995 or whatever all power to his elbow (or whatever...)

Thinks he may have to settle for a bit less though if he must sell.

Just IMHO

Benno, your comments are out of order. This was not a plug to sell, just after some advice. When I bought mine, I paid over the odds because it was so clean and the best I'd seen by far.
I was just after some 'realsim' re current market conditions. If you don't like the thread don't bother to respond.

sorry nora

i just thought your posting was a blatant, i've put my chimera in the classifieds type of post...but appreciate you were trying to stimulate discussion regarding whether the price being asked is "reasonable?"

sorry.... it just seems to happen a lot, 'ive just put my beloved XXXXX up for sale, its been very relaible, i love it but need to sell, its in a lovely XXXX colour and totally reliable. It has only XXX miles and a full service history.....and i am asking £XXXXX do you think this is reasonable.

I am only winding you up, but you must see what i'm saying nora??

I think Benno made a perfectly reasonable comment..

If you have an Ad, post it in the Ads section.

If you want to know what price to put your car up for, look at similar cars and take a punt..

Yeah, jump on the band wagon Jason!
I have placed an add in the classifieds. Ditto my earlier comments.
I've explained my reasoning and if you don't accept them then that's up to you. Just disappointed that some wish to be negative and sarcastic.

Your initial statement did not imply to me that you were looking for a price check. i.e. Ad in Classifieds if u r interested and all the details etc..

Had you put can anyone advise what sort of price a bla bla bla could go for then I would understand. Other people on the Forum do this ( It sure does start off slagging matches though !! This pricing is a bad game ).

I can understanding wanting a price guide but there is one on this website for starters (hope it is still here ), E&M and Top Marques etc for seconds, and for thirds all these damn cars are unique so it is always a stab in the dark.

Sorry to be negative and sarcastic but it is my opinion, and I did not see why Benno should be slated for saying what he thinks either

Agree - hope my comments on Bennno being banned were taken in jest as they were meant that way - Life would be duller without such people as he has never been one to not voice his opinion.... which is a good thing...

Come back Bennno - we need some more comments from you (though maybe not on Porsches if this is OK).

Cheers,

Paul
