snoop detectors good gadget or useless gizmo!

just a quick question does anybody have a snnop detector or other radar/camera seeking device. and are they any good do they work, im not an out an out speed freak but do not want to get caught doing just over the limit and getting points making insurance difficult .

I was very much a radar detector sceptic until I bought a Bel Euro 550. I'm still amazed how early it picks up camera's. Top piece of kit but needs to be positioned carefully. Only gripe is false alarms from some radar operated security systems. It detects every Shell petrol station. Great if you need some more Optimax......
