Has anyone upgraded their front lights to the faired-in 2001 version? Just wondering if it’s a straight mod. or requires a lot of work? I remember some time ago a discussion along these lines, but no definite answer – can it be done at the dealers/factory or is it a Zertec mod.?

Cheers,
Tommo

We are looking for a volunteer with a Chimaera so that we can get the shape perfect. We would take a mould from the existing setup and work from there. We would heavily discount the kit for this person.
There will be options of:
1)Single headlight
2)90mm halogen dip and 40mm HID Xenon main
3)90mm HID Xenon dip and 40mm HID Xenon main
All behind Perspex covers similar to the current Chimaera. We hope to make them DIY.

Clive, are you looking for an older Chim to check the fit or a new one to make the mould?

Or both?

Matt.

We need a Chimaera with the normal open lights as we will be making the units to fit this type of car. We do not need the latest faired-in version of the Chimaera.

Clive,

Why don't you develop a kit to upgrade Old chim front lights with Xenon light but no perplex. I personnaly love the look of my old chim but what bothers me is :
- the poorness of the Halogen lighting
- the look of the glass which is an old design and that makes the car look old. Imagine a fully transprent glass with no lining in it and a Xenon light and optics behind. It would look really actual.

Phil

I've even been trying to work out how to do it my self.

i was going to use a flat( or slightyl bowed) bit of carbon with two holes each side for the lights and then a plastic replicat ( clear) of the existing lens and use the existing shroud....

working out which lights i need and how to get the lens cover made are the worst bit...
