Firstly a quick thank you to eveyone who posts here. I have been looking at all the threads as I was deciding on buying a Chimaera and there have been some top class bits of advice that really helped me. I now own a R reg 4 litre (3 days) and am loving it already.

One query I have is with the oil pressure gauge, problem flagged with dealer and they are trying to find out as well - can any one here beat them to it?

At constant revs or stationary the pressure seems fine 30-40 depending on temp. But when I accelerate the needle drops right down and has touched zero a couple of times. When not acellerating the needle goes back to a normal level. No pressure warning light though?

Any ideas (and I promise to start posting to give something back!!!)

Dodgy Sender? Mine tended to jump around rather than just drop to zero though. £40 replacement, but mine just needed tightening up a little....

Ours did this, Bruno. UpTheIron is almost certainly right. Nothing to worry about. The sensor is *****d, that's all. Tell the dealer you want it fixed a.s.a.p.

After all...if you can't check that the oil pressure is OK and something happens to the engine then it won't be YOU that's to blame and the warranty had better cover it....etc

Should speed 'em up. But I expect they'll be falling over themselves to help anyway. If you bought private - I don't think it was expensive to sort out anyway.

Ahhh the joys of ownership!

Enjoy your car - they're great aren't they?
