Can't agree Mark, my chim is much easier to control on track with P/S, your sag may be different.

Without, it is sooo heavy, (possibly made worse with Triple8's), it is impossible to correct quickly.

Not surprisingly, after I fitted P/S, the whole car felt up to date and I wouldn't, (intentionaly), be without it.

Maybe if we meet up on a T/D, you can let me drive your car and I can make a comparison wink.

I find the P/s aids too intrusive, My Griff 500 with R888 also has no P/s and is the better without, Trevs i've driven/owned with p/s the steering is too twichy on the limit, fine for posing around town or poping down to the shops but for me no good on track.

Still each to his own

http://www.thetvrshop.com/steering.pdf

there is a write up here for RG version, showing also the brackets.

id love to try this, really like to know if the steering has much adjustment.......

does the one in rg look like a b. c or other type of motor that are provided by the likes of dc electronics

I guess this answers my question:

"The unit itself is compact and it is the bracing that takes up most of the under dash space"

is there anyone who would fancy doing this conversion for me i only drive mine around town (nver on track) so this would be so handy but racing green charge around 2500 pounds which sseems way to much for me, im useless with mechanics so i would much rather pay one of you guys to do it, i know its a long shot but worth a try

Is it a Corsa B Column your using? I'm still debating doing mine while it is still in pieces!

As for the potentiometer kit, depending on how it feels when fitted, I was thinking along the lines of 2 settings, similar to what the manufacturers do, "Normal" and "City" saves fiddling with a pot.

If done correctly this is probably a good modification BUT the original welded columb was welded by TVR and has type approval,This mod does not and I am sure if they knew the MOT tester would not be too impressed and I am positive your insurance would be void unless they had been notified and the car subject to an engineers report.

I suspect that applies to wishbone and rear upright weld repairs too in that case. I'll keep everything under my hat just in case the MOT and insurance Stasi are reading. Previous posts now deleted.

Hi NuttyFruitBat
I love your EPAS installation so much I'm in the middle of copying it, I hope you don't mind but think of it as a complement.

I also hope you don't mind me asking what is the distance from the original steering column mounts to the body of the EPAS and also how on the earth did you manage to weld the splined sleeve in a perfect straight line. If you are interested I would consider paying you to weld my splined sleeve or at the minimum spot weld it so I could finish off the weld.

Thank you in anticipation
Steve Sprint

Thanks for your vote of support and recommending Centauro.

Centauro
Thanks for the measurements, that’s really really kind and helpful.
I've sussed how to weld the column in a straight line so I'm now feeling a lot more confident.
I hope we meet up one day so I can buy you a beer.
Cheers
Steve Sprint
