Dead heater fan
Discussion
I don't know about accessing it, but I have had the fan prob on both the MK2 Astra's I've owned! It was a dodgy electrical connection, and the spindal was in need of a damn good greasing! I changed the connection, spun the fan on 3, put a glob of copper grease on a screwdriver and stuck it against the visible end on the spindal, didn't squeal again after that!!! Could really have done with stripping it down and clearing all the crap out of the inside and giving it a proper greasing, but didn't have the patience or the time!!
HTH a bit!

Why do you need an up-grade, before mine died it did the job. Perhaps the airflow is restricted by a build up of rubbish or something. Mine is a '96 model maybe it is more powerful than the version in yours? If I ever find a way to get to mine I'll let you know what the spec is for the replacement.

Thanks for the tip, copper grease is my solution to everything too. I am still at a loss about getting to the heater. Behind the air flow meter in the engine bay, there seems to be a access plate sealed with mastic, I'll probably end up cracking it open to see if that works, unless anyone has a better idea!
