Again it's been a long time since posting and I've come across and sorted many little issues. But I am pleased to say that a few months back I finally got the car back on the road for the summer. Albeit with the original carbs still and still the original rear axle.

It runs great. I am really happy with lots of the modifications however there are things still to improve. I need to change the rear axle when funds free up. There's more power in there that the running gear is just not making the best use of.

I am really pleased with the super light flywheel from v8 tuner but I really should have updated the clutch. There is so much torque that the clutch can't quite handle it. It changes really nicely and softly but it just feels like the clutch can't quite grab it for a second. I am being picky though. It does change nice and smoothly and arguably it's a perfect clutch for a nice country drive but when you hit a b road and want to start banging through some gears it feels like it's loosing me some go.

I think the carbs are a little restrictive seeing as though everything else is upgraded they need to be but again it's just money holding that off.

My home made side exit exhaust is pretty loud. Some days that's brilliant but after lots of hooning around I do reach for the ear plugs. 🤣

The interior needs totally doing.

I have got a bit distracted by restoring my mk1 cortina but I am just glad it's finally drivable and I have just enjoyed it for a few months. Still a working project tho.

Oh and with the gear selector cap bit from my last post. My friend John made me one which works ok. They are always out of stock from Clive wheatley but I still keep an eye on it.

Good reading this thread, I have just got a Sebring V8 had an electrical fault and started to dismantle the dashboard to find it and carried on from there....I plan to strip it over the winter and replace the seats, belts, cover the dash or paint it, can’t make up my mind at the moment, replace the dials, powder coat the wheels. The heater air door is jammed going to investigate but reading about taking the heater out seems a nightmare...

To be honest I don't remember the heater being a nightmare to take out. Mind you I probably pulled the engine first. Pretty sure you pull the pipes, draining the top of the system, there is one clipped wire connector and behind the heater dials you disconnect the cables... then give it a yank. Oh actually mine is a 79 though so could be different depending on your year. Threading it all back in is more of a pain but not too bad. Also possibly depends on your carb setup as if you have the standard mgb v8 carbs then they could be mounted quite close to the heater and may need removing first.

hopefully not, If I did run out of things to do I would only be off buying yet another car.
