I finally had the car out a couple of weeks ago at Sebring, here in Florida. Other than being the slowest SR8 driver on the planet, just getting some practice so as not to stall the car in the pits was the first challenge.

I did have one significant issue: when up-shifting at higher RPM (say 8000+) into 4/5/6 the transmission made a loud banging sound. It all seemed to work ok, and I thought it was normal. But watching online videos of SR8s, I don't hear it. The 4/5/6 shifts seem as quiet as 2 and 3. Downshifting was fine. Just the upshifts.

I did the spin the car and stall the engine at one point (I forgot the basic lesson of "when in a spin, two feet in").

The transmission is a Quaife/PowerTec with pneumatic paddle shifter.

Also, I can't seem to pull the F88 ECM data from those runs. I can only get the last 7 runs, and my (to me) high speed runs seem to have been lost. Does that make sense?

Anyway, I appreciate any thoughts anybody might have on the matter, thanks!

Cannot really help with the paddleshift 'issues'. Anyway whey you drive 'slower' you tend to hear the load bangs I noticed. I noticed in particular on my SR8 last trackday, as I was on a cooldown lap shifting higher gears at slower speeds, but they are just from the exhaust I think. I don't hear them when going full pull. So I don't think you need to worry.

About the data from the MXL, it's limited in memory. On my car, it looks like it only holds around max 2 hours of data before overwriting old data.. :-(

Thanks waky.

I've gotten direct help from Radical now on the issue. Wisko Racing in Virginia has taken on the job of babysitting me through this. We're going to reprogram the Geartronics paddle shifter box next week, as my parameters seem out of touch with the accepted profile. And they think it might be a gearbox issue itself so I'll be tearing down the gearbox and inspecting all the hard parts.
