Bodywork is very light, just awkward. Unless you are extremely feeble the rear comes off by simply lifting the rear wing and using it to pivot over the airbox. The front is a bit more awkward because of how bendy it is so you tend to lift one wheel off at a time and shuffle it forward, but easily do-able on your own. There's no real weight there, its the size/floppiness that's the issue. Again, I'm doing it all myself - take off the front and rear every time between events for a quick spanner check and look-over, no issues at all, no hoists or other equipment needed.
please could you advise on how much rebuilds are roughly (incl VAT..) for the 1500?
it's every 40 hours isn't it (though i know that can vary depending on how it's used)

I'm going to view one on Tuesday.

Depends what needs done. If just track days I'd suggest hours can be significantly extended, I know plenty of cars doing 60 between rebuilds with no issues. That would give you an easy approx 3 years between rebuilds.

The rebuild itself - if you budget £1500 a year you won't get a surprise. I think my last one was £5500 but I needed a lot of extra stuff done. A straight rebuild would be in the £3500 region by a very reputable builder.

thats great. cheaper than karting biggrin

other than usual things like checking engine logs/service records, would appreciate if you could provide any other things you'd be looking out for?
i've always serviced my own cars, got a garage full of tools, im' not scared of replacing components - however, the drivetrain in this car, well, i'd be clueless as to what to look out for.

On other components, any way to visually tell condition?

how about on startup - any audio cues i need to listen out for?

EDIT: i can see on the radical website that i can check the car using the Lifeview software, hopefully they have a cable i can borrow to plug my laptop in and check various parameters etc.

For those seeking cars - there's a facebook group called "Totally Radical" with a couple of SR3s for sale by a bloke up my way (Scotland) - one a very tidy SR3 RS with the correct 1500 RPE engine, the other an older SR3 with supercharged 1300 engine.
The SR3 is with us currently (North Motorsport) being prepared for sale. Happy to sort viewing for anyone that may be interested (saving a trip into Scotland).
