This sounds very interesting. I might be at Bedford on 31st ... if so I'll be sure to look you up.
I also have a prototype of the Raceco silencer fitted to my car, 97dB tested static at Coombe just before Christmas, 2.5kg and seemed to add another 2bhp peak power, based on Radical's own rolling road.

daved6, any update on this? My understanding is that the kit is not quite ready yet with one or two important issues still to be resolved.

My question is will you now have the engine serviced / refreshed by Radical or TTS Performance ?

If TTS Performance... How does their prices compare with Radicals own?

The Supercharger is really looking like a top upgrade for a 1300 LM / Tracksport instead of going for a 1500 HC Upgrade from Radical.

Rich.

Thanks for the chat yesterday Dave

I have now spoken to Ricahrd (TTS) at length regarding the supercharger, and it looks like the kit will be ready within a few weeks.

However, there are some fairly big costs to take into account if you are considering this conversion.

1 - Fuel injection. If you don't have it, you need it and Radical were talking in the region of £2.5K. You may also have to change your fuel tank.

2 - You will have to strengthen and modify your engine including rods, pistons, cam chain, cams etc. I have two quotes from Richard for the complete job (not inc. fuel injection conversion). 1400cc Supercharged engine £8450 +VAT and 1300cc Supercharged engine £7250 +VAT. Both quotes on the basis of dropping off complete car.

So for me we are looking at £9750 to £10750 +VAT, a not inconsiderable sum of money. Still, I am giving it some serious thought

Spie,

It was good to talk with you, sorry I missed your return call, give me a bell Monday if you like. Regarding the prices, you don't have to spend that much on the Radical fuel injection, mine has the std Hayabusa set up which Richard has modified, you can buy this complete set up from any bike breakers for a fraction of the cost. You also don't need the 1400cc set up as a std 1300cc engine with the small supercharger has produced 250bhp @ the wheels already.

Rich,

TTS can rebuild your engine to any spec you like and I have found that they are cheaper than Radical rebuild prices, also for not much difference in cost you can have a supercharged 1300cc conversion rather than the 1500cc Radical NA engine, the supercharged car would have more power at the wheels than the Radical engine would make at the crankshaft

The supercharger is made by Rotrex and is proving both very efficent and reliable, the only issue we have found so far is some premature wear on the drive coupling, this is being redesigned to suit the direct drive set up and then its a finished product

I'll let you know when its fully sorted and what its like to drive on real trackdays rather than testing, should be awesome !!!!

Edited, just to say that I am not suggesting that there is anything wrong with either Radicals product or pricing, its just that I think that the TTS supercharger offers fantastic performance at a sensible price.

I've given Radical the go ahead to convert to Fuel Injection, along with a fresh set of slicks, new front splitter etc.

I'm then going for the full 1400cc rebuild and supercharger kit as soon as Richard can guarantee me reliability. Indications are that this could be achieved within a month which means I may have the car ready for the EasyTrack day at Oulton Park on 27th March. Let's hope so
