Ok.. these beasties have been out for a while now. Any of you SR3 owners want to start writing about your experiences uptil now? I'd like to hear from those who drive them on the roads and trackdays.
Spill the beans, whats good, bad(within PH legality of course) with these cars, how many engine rebuilds(if any ) have people done and hows the factory support for the road cars.

..curious for the benefit of the collective

I've only managed to drive mine 300 miles or so on the road! Mainly because for track days I'd always trailer it to have tools/slicks/heater etc. In the damp, the cold Formula-R's are a bit lethal - after talking to Mick Hyde I'm going to get some SO3's instead for general road use and occasional gooning on track; the slicks still work on slightly damp anyway.

Reliability has been pretty close to perfect - just the ground wire for the water temp sensor vibrating off twice, and the FI air temp sensor wire snapping. Brake pads are still serviceable after 10 track days too!

I've done about 2,500 road miles in my 1300 SS with 700 miles in one day too with Glasgow>Donington Evening Track Day>Radical Factory. I sold my trailer and normally drive a 120 mile round trip to my local circuit (Knockhill). Done about 8 track days.

Been 100% reliable and nothing gone wrong 'cept minor glitches with digital readouts. Factory support excellent.

In summary: 100% happy with it.

Nice one! You drive there and on track with the Dunlop Formula-R's? How many sets have you been through?

How did you record your road miles, or was it just an estimate? I have to record them for my limited mileage fully comp. road insurance (was cheapest way of getting first & theft) and use a cycling odometer.

Still on the first set although there isn't much/any tread to speak of so need to get them changed ASAP. I've driven it in all weathers and not found the R's a problem tbh.

I'm guesstimating my miles and also on a limited mileage scheme so how does this bike odometer thing work?

What insurance co you with? I'm with Footman James and pay £670 for 1500 road miles/year but no track cover. Any better deals out there?

I'm with Footman James also on a 1500 miles policy - think it was for around £300 though - no idea why it is cheaper! They insisted I had to be able to record the miles somehow though.

I got a typical magnetically triggered bike odo, and cable tied it securely around the left CV joint. The pickup is held by some clamps, though the wire is only long enough to have the odo mounted on a roll bar brace. I only remove the clamp for track use, the trigger seems fine. Obviously I can override the mileage on the odo if I wanted to be fraudulent, but at least if I crash on the road I have some pictures!

By the Formula-R's being fine on the road, do you mean pootling around, or actually fast road car pace? Since they don't seem to warm up on our cold damp days, they have less grip at all angles than a road car I thought!
