XK8 Engine Concerns
Discussion
My father owned a couple of nicasil V8 Jags and he did not have any problems with them.
As a rule of thumb they do not like short journeys where the oil does not warm up properly, and from a previous post normally if they have done over 20,000 miles without a problem they are generally okay..(much like the TVR straight six engine but that is a different topic entirely and to do with finger followers)
Having said that Jaguar have been very good to all peopel who have had problems because they wanted to keep the issue under wraps. Also whenever my father used to take his Jag to be serviced they would perform a pressure test on it to see if any issues where starting and his were both okay..
I heard and I may be wrong that it was only in 2001 model XK8 and XJ8 that the nicasil was got rid off, apparently you need the engine serial number and you can tell from this..
