I have recently been converted to Jaguar and I am not even 50 yet.
I have 3 boys (12 / 14 and 17) which is why I needed a 2+2. My advice would be to look for a car with the sports seats. They are a much slimmer seat and allow my off spring to sit in relative comfort in the rear. They don't seem to mind at all and suspect the noise it makes is adequate compensation.
Having had 3 x TVRs, 3 x 911 (later 2 were of GTS variety) it was interesting to move to the XKR. I have really enjoyed them all in different ways. It is undoubtedly more of a GT car. Not as nimble as a 911 or TVR. It does make an incredible noise with the dynamic button pressed, but can potter round in a docile fashion too if your mood takes you. It is a different type of car to the other 2, but I have to say I love it, as do the kids who pester me all the time to use it! I would also say that I have had at least as many admiring glances and positive comment as the other 2 marques, especially the 911.
