Don't they suffer corrosion issues on the lower inner-wing. Maybe worth a check/fix.

I've just rebuilt the front end of my X300 XJR - check everything! Admittedly your car is newer but I had a torn engine mount, both subframe V-mounts were knackered and every other bush was baggy resulting in slight vagueness but not enough to show exactly what was worn. I bit the bullet, bought every rubber and joint and bearing, plus shocks all round, changed them all and its a new car. Well worth doing if you're keeping the car!

Cheers, will get that checked out.

Any other suggestions?
When you get the car back remove the bolts securing the V mounts - one at a time - and flood inside the box section with Waxoil or similar rusproofing wax.

Hi Guys

I'll be putting my x308 XJR in shortly for a suspension refresh and am ordering up the following bits. Anything else I should order up? It had new front springs fitted last year.

Should I get new Vee Mounts fitted as well whilst I'm at it?
Read the post above, they will answer your questions.

Whilst it's all apart get a complte kit and change the lot. There's no point in risking compromising a rebuild for the few quid you'll save by re-using some old parts.

The V mounts are a seperate operation to the rest of the suspension components but it's easier to drop the front subframe a little when the springs and anti roll bar are disconnected to change them.

Do a few miles once it's all back together then have a full 4 wheel laser alignment done.

No Probs thumbup

Vibration under - especially light - braking is most likley warped discs. If you feel it through the steering wheel it's probrably the front discs and through your arse it's probrably the rears.

Heavier steering is maybe due to more friction in new parts and possibly a return to factory settings to castor angle now the shagged bushes are gone.

I'd put a hundred miles or so on to bed everything down then have a proper Hunter 4 wheel alignment done.

Cheers, I will take a look at the calipers too.
Mines a XJ40, but I doubt it's amazingly different as sticky callipers has caused judder on lots of cars & bikes I've had.

If I were to get the bigger R calipers, which ones should I go for? I see them from the X308 XJR, XJR, S Type R and X350 XJR.
Does anyone know which ones fit the X308? Will I need to buy any other bits, apart from discs and pads.
X308 XJR and the X100 XKR will fit, not the others

Quite a lot of welding translates into quite a lot of money. I'd say find another one.

Either one with a long MOT and reasonable tyres and just smoke it about 'till it goes pop then call the scrap man or buy a absolutely pristine one and be prepared to spend time and money keeping it like that.

X308 V8 XJs aren't worth major maintenance or welding IMO as you could easily spend way more then the difference in purchase cost between the two on fixing them and chances are no matter how much you spend all you'll ever achieve is ownership of a tired old Jag that will carry on eating your wallet.
