As much as I'd love Ford to sell the new Mustang over here, it seems unlikely, especially in RHD.

There are several companies already importing LHD models.

Same goes for the Corvette.

Oh, and if they did import them officially, we'd probably end up paying the same in £ as the American's pay in $, which makes them a bit less appealing.

Import? Sure, but why not use it as a basis for a new Capri? For that matter, why not build them in Australia (in yet another version), handily solving the LHD/RHD issue?

Whatever company (or subsidiary) the development car belongs to (this is me backtracking, as the more I look at it, the less it looks like a Mustang) would do well to be monitoring this forum -- expert opinions, offered free of charge. ARE YOU LISTENING, FORD GROUP?

The Mustang promises to be hugely successful Stateside, especially in the absence of competition from the discontinued Chevy Camaro and Pontiac Firebird, in the 'Pony Car' class it started 40 years ago. I expect at least limited exports to Britain and Europe, but building a new Capri on this platform would be a good move. The 'Stang would also do well in Australia, but once again, so would a homebrewed version.

GENERAL MOTORS: If you are not already doing so, develop new Camaros and Firebirds QUICK! Do not underestimate the appeal they would have, or the number of previous customers who will be leaving their brand loyalty behind to buy Mustangs. If you need help designing them, I already have a few sketches (hint: True coupes, not hatches, with bumper-height cargo liftover -- and don't be afraid to go a bit retro, with the Camaro if not the Firebird)...

PS Can I change my nickname? I've fallen out of love with my 7-litre Cadillac, will have my Q-ship Cressida on the road before year's end...

That was suprisingly easy to accomplish -- new nickname to go with my new acquisition... And time to read the play before it's ready to drive.

How the hell did a thread on the X-150 turn into a debate about 2nd-rate American metal???

Even Caterham are making chassis' more advanced than the Mustang's, FFS!!!
