Airbag warning light

Hi All,
Thought I'd bat this one around whilst I'm waiting to see how things pan out.
I have a '98 XJR-8 and for the past couple of weeks the airbag warning light has been on. I had planned to get it looked at when I book the car in for new suspension bushes, but yesterday the light went out on it's own. Today it was on again this morning, then out again this afternoon.
I remember having a similar experience with my '90 XJ40 which over the first few months of ownership showed a few warnings which gradually sorted themselves out and never gave me any trouble at all!
So, are the electrics still tempremental on a '98 car or have I got a financially damaging problem to sort out?
Any advice greatly received.
