Well looks like 3 of us are going, so anyone else fancy a swift half or two on Friday 14th Jan, are welcome to join us.

Elstead Mill in, well, Elstead. Come out of Guildford on the A3, heading towards Petersfield. After the A3/A31 road split, continue down the A3 for approx 3.5 to 4 miles, then turn right onto the B3001 for Farnham. Elstead is 2 miles further down this road.

5:30pm onwards if you are thirsty.

There are two forums dealing with the Elstead Mill "R" Club inaugural meeting (see also "FAO Triple7").

As this is the easier one to find, thought I would just say I'll be there too in the Racing Green XKR 4.2 Coupe demonstrator. So that's 4 of us at least.

Who has an XJ"R" and hasn't decided what to do on Friday evening ?

Serious question, now. Would the team allow a TV"R" to join the meet ? And how about a Vipe"R" ? This club has potential ! Fe"RR"a"R"i ?

Notice, no "R"s in Honda, Mitsubishi, Mercedes, Toyota, Volkswagen, Audi etc.

I have an XJ'R' and haven't decided what to do tonight yet!

Will see how the day pans out and post on here whether I'm coming or not.

Out of interest, how wll we recognise each other at the bar? Do we just look for the beige cardigans?

Cheers,

Iain

Well what a small, but perfectly formed collection of cars we managed to put together

Certainly be up for more meets, although I fear that I should buy shares in Shell first

Now all I have to do is convince the missus that Germany is pleasant in May, France is nice in June, Sussex is welcoming in September etc. etc.

I can echo those comments made from our first XJ'R' member of the 'Type 'R' Club. As a founding XK'R' member muself, it was great to meet y'all. Be even better to see them cars in the day light!!! The noise they were making was quite something!

5 founder members of the "R" Club already then !
One S-Type R, 3 XKRs and one XJR. We even took the trouble to get a team photo taken for posterity, in case this club fires up !

General rules discussed were:

Full Membership: anyone with a Jaguar S-Type R, XJR or XKR.

Honorary Members: Other proper sports/performance car owners (by invitation ?)in accordance with rules TBD.

Club Motto: "Extended driving for no particular reason".

Well, it was something like that. XJR member No 001 will correct it because he invented it). Full marks to him for the longest journey tonight as well: Orpington in Kent to Ellstead in Surrey for a couple of cokes then home the long way around the M25 !

This club is not about "polishing and picniccing". Its about enjoying driving and hasving a ball when you get there.

We talked about setting up trips to watch the Le Mans 24 Hours and to drive the Nurburgring Nordschleife this year, plus perhaps one or more trackdays. Wokkadriver has already extended an invitation to visit the Chinooks at RAF Odiham - date TBD. Laurieb suggested he would hold a party at his place near Chichester during the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

This has the makings of a really good club for petrolheads.

We're meeting up at Racing Green Cars in Ash Vale near Farnborogh,Hampshire, for coffee at 1000 tomorrow (well today actually). Laurieb has agreed to do the occasional flypast in his 450 bhp S-Type R - just so we can see how close it sounds to a Spitfire.

That's Saturday 15 Jan at 1000 for a couple of hours. Anyone who wants to join us, come along and meetup.

Oh bu99er

Why do I always read about meets at Racing Green AFTER the event?!? I would have joined you if I'd known as I live in Ash Vale.

Instead, I spent a couple of hours washing my car instead!

Hope you had fun - and one day I WILL get to a Racing Green meet

Well it only took me 25 mins to get into work from Ash Vale, hence my quick post!

It was great to finally get to RGC and take a look around at all those mighty fine bits of steel and fibre glass. A big thank you to Jagman (Club Secretary? ) for his hospitality and also the blast in the 'nearly-Ardened' XKR. She sounded sooo sweet. Thanx also goes to Laurie (S Type-R Member #1) for his fly pasts!

Next Friday is it? I do think we need to do some more 'Club rule making' i.e. pint of the official club brew! don't you think?!

Sounds like a good event at Racing Green, shame I couldn't make it. Have spent all morning staring at reels and reels of cable trying to decide the best way to start re-wiring the house.

Have decided to go out in search of a pint of 'R Club' pride instead...

Next Friday is a possibility, I could perhaps pop in on (or off) route to delivering a birthday card in Norfolk... Well, it's a reason, just not a particularly good one!
