Test drove the X Type Estate and the S Type 2.7d at the weekend, will shortly be ordering an S Type as my daily driver. I was impressed by the auto, but couldn't get a manual to test. Has anyone driven the manual?

Nice. The auto is so good why bother with the manual.

What did you think of the X?

another 3% of the price per annum for Mr Brown is one consideration, having had so many auto's, I enjoy Mrs Bats MX=5 and have very fond memories of the Fiat 20v turbo which was my last manual daily driver, I am interested to know how the manual changes the flavour of the beast.

The X Type estate is a very nice car, probably the best estate I have driven in many ways, the 2.0d is a little sluggish pulling away, but once it is spinning its very good. I will be interested in trying the 2.2, but the S has my heart and the dogs will just have to learn to wipe their feet and wear seat belts.

I think Clarkson had the manual when he raced that S-Type Oil burner around the N'ring. You should check out satelite tv for a repeat of the show, on UK people/history tv etc.

Seemed to perform well enough.

Bloody Brown charges extra for being lazy, b@st@rd!
