Just to fill you in I actually bought a draper code reader from Clifford's. Brighton, which actually worked and gave me some codes..... P0123. Which is Throttle pedal position sensor A circuit high input.
P1177 long term fuel trim, too rich banks 1 and 2 I did some research on Internet and also independent jag specialist in anmering who said it could be petrol pump lack of pressure.....

Anyone ideas guys on these codes haha

The Ecu gentleman said this type was too old for him to work on
I have since bought a Draper OBD2 test unit from cliffords in Hove, which came up with code P0123 throttle position sensor
P1177 rich fueling. From what I have read, that could be a faulty fuel pressure regulator, clogged return line, bad injectors or basically faulty fuel pump.

Does anybody have anymore info or even idea where the fuel pump is... i thought it was on the back of the fuel tank in the boot,,, but after reading other posts regarding fuel pumps on x types i may be wrong as mine is 1994 and ones in question are 2001 +

Thank you

Hang fire until later and I'll post up some stuff about diagnostics on these cars. Really busy this morning, sorry.

Hi, I'm a total newbie here but I have the same car and I love it. My crank position sensor went causing all sorts of odd problems but 60 quid and ten minutes of work later it ran well again. I have no idea if this is your problem but it really is very common. Also a dirty throttle block is also a very common problem and cleaning is pretty easy so it may not be one of the zillion relays smile

Try this place for advice and experience, they are both helpful and friendly

Well just to conclude more than a year later .. as I have been busy on other projects and didnt have time to work on the Jag, I want to inform you of my findings , after changing various relays and fuses as pointed out in the forum and elsewhere i finally changed the mass airflow meter as this seemed the next step, this didnt work so i changed the crankcase sender.. this too didnt work.. Finally i gave up and sent it a garage .. the problem was WATER in the fuel !!!!!!... He rigged up a secondary tank filled with new fuel and connected using the fuel pump .. and everything work ok..

Glad it’s going again but who’d have guessed at that!
