I'm looking forward to the delivery of a new XF next month. I intend to get a spare set of rims with winter tyres.

Anyone know where I might purchase a set of rims; I'd be loathe to pay OE prices.

Have you checked with Jaguar about the prices?
When we bought SWMBO's Merc it had the standard E-Class alloy wheels and they weren't very expensive. So we just bought another set of those for the winter tyres.
On the other hand a new set of Jaguar wheels for my XKR weren't cheap biggrin

Actually, I haven't had a detailed quote but I got the feeling, from the wheel prices in the accessories, that they were very pricy.

When I bought my current 5 series, I got a set of OE rims and winters for about £1k which I thought was OK.

I'll get a proper quote and see how it goes.

Thanks.

I can't remember what the Merc ones were, but getting everything sorted for about a grand seems to be about right.
The XKR wheels were going to be a lot more than that before I even started to look at the tyres. I just worked on the principle that if the weather is that bad the Missus and I can share.

I wanted some 17" alloys for my XF and called my local dealer to see if they had a set of spare ones. Yes they did. With winter tyres on, and they were keen to be shot of them. £100 the set! Failing that, eBay.

Not getting very far with this.

Haven't had a quote from dealer yet, been waiting a couple of weeks.......

Looking at aftermarket sites, no one offers rims for XF 260, just the old model or the XE, though they seem to be the same fitments.

The real problem is finding out which TPMS valves would be needed and how they are programmed. Do they need pre coding or will the car pick them up?

Any ideas?

Do you really need TPMS for winter tyres that will be used very little?

As for whether the wheel spec is the same as other XFs I'd ask your main dealer service manager. I'd suspect they are, and it will open up much more scope.

I wouldn't be bothered by not having a tpms on the winters but it's now a legal requirement, at least it is to have a functioning tpms, and if the system doesn't recognise the valves it'll throw up a warning all the time.

I take your point about the wheel types. At the end of the day I can just remove a wheel and get the details from the back of it and buy some to that spec.

I tried getting a set for mine and was unsure about the older model wheels fitting. I asked my dealer and they said they would get back to me but never did. In the end I've just gone for tyres and will get them changed when they arrive.
There were a set on e-bay with new budget winter tyres for £700 + postage, but looking at the pictures they were 275 on the rear and 245 on the front so was unsure about the fit of that.
I've ordered Pirelli Sottozero series 3 at £231 each! but I need to get to work and it looks like it is going to be one of those winters where icy roads and sleet/snow could be a problem. I start at 0600 and drive 17 miles to work. The gritters start at 0630 so I'm always at the mercy of untreated surfaces...

Well, my dealer quoted me £2200 for 17” and £2500 for 18” rims with winter tyres.

I know I can get a new set of aftermarket wheels and tyres for about £1000 but haven’t yet been able to establish the situation regarding the TPMS sensors.

My dealer tells me that it’s OK to move wheels on the car, the sensors will be picked up, which possibly implies that the correct aftermarket valves would be too.

You can get TPMS valves on ebay, alternatively a decent tyre place should be able to source and fit ones that will work with your car when installing tyres.

Check eBay for second hand sets of wheels, you'll get used genuine Jaguar ones far cheaper than new.

Yes the car will pick up the sensors automatically they dont need coding , they are about £80-£100 a set usually

I'd be tempted just to get some used wheels on ebay , aftermarket wheels are often poor quality just confirm the dimensions first
