I've just swapped from XKR ownership to an 2010 XF 3.0DS due to a change in jobs and annual mileage , some thoughts and observations.

Given the lack of around 200 BHP missing (07 XKR was modified), the XF still gets down the road very well. Huge torque means in gear acceleration
Economy - well no surprise but XF is doing 33-36 most days, 40-45 on a long run at normal motorway cruising. Modified XKR doing 15-18 most days and 23mpg on long run. It was tempting to use performance so a little more was probably possible.

XF Engine is quiet, great auto gearbox - leagues better than one in XKR.
Noise - wind and road noise much lower in XF. Think it's quieter than my old Lexus LS overall.

What is surprising is the handling of the XF - mine runs on 255.35.20 Dunlop sport Maxx (not my favourite tyre) and it easily outhandles the XKR which ran on Michelin PSS.
Really surprised how much extra speed i can carry through corners on familiar routes and how much more stable the XF is.

Ride - 1 point to the XKR here - CATS means that it is smoother lower down and over motorways bumps. Guess the trade off for handling.

BTW - good main dealer experience at Lookers West London. Very slick, professional. Not pushy.

So there is an Emerald Fire 07 XKR out there. Contact me if you are looking at buying it.

The XF has a gem of a chassis. The Dunlops are awful tyres though. Better of on Michelins, which is what I ran my two XFSs on after the factory Dunslips wore out. I have the MPS4 on the front of the R-S too, and they’re great. The gearbox in the XKR and the Classic XF are the same ZF6 unit, so I guess the differences you’re seeing re in the map or the mod you’ve done.

Garage agreed to four new tyres on car as part of deal so can't complain i suppose- they could have fitted mid range rubbish. Been a fan of Michelin for a while so that's what will likely replace the Dunlops in a year or so.

XKR had quite a bit done to it - Race cell Cats/ exhaust/ Supercharger pulleys/ remap etc. Miss the noise but needs must. 3 years of fun though.

I bought my Xkrs with lookers West London last year. Shame cant say I enjoyed the experience much.

Probably the worst ever in my Jaguar ownership of 30 years.

Is yours a daily driver? If so how are you getting on with it?

Just checked your garage out. I dont think you would notice much difference from what you have now apart from the styling. I moved from a Black Xkr to the Xrs more so for the look of it.

It would be my main car, not got the time to drive more than one as it is. Drive seems not too much different to my current XKR, slightly firmer, although the styling sets the XKR-S apart, I do feel the Dynamic R is the better bet in terms of price and set up, but an RS would be a dream....
