Thanks, I found some threads on there too later on. People seem to like Varta so I've ordered a Varta Silver Dynamic AGM G14 Car Battery 595 901 085.

That's the one I have, very happy with it. Chances are you'll have read one or two of my own posts on that subject over there. What I will say is, nowadays my car does almost all short trips and occasionally shows signs of needing a little conditioning but if you can give it at least one decent run every week or two then it should cope with some light use too.

My new battery has just arrived. I'll look at fitting it this evening and then I'll look at fitting a proper connection for a conditioner. Ideally I'd like an outside (the car) connector. Chris Window fitted a nice discreet one when he put a core heater into my X300. But if I can't find a good location I'll just put something in the boot.
Working from home and having two other cars at home as well, the XKR doesn't get used all the time.
