Are there any jaguar specialists on here or any really good mechanics, my jag is playing up and need some advise

My jag XTYPE diesel was dead on the key all the dash lights up but nothing when you turn the key, so I changed the starter motor about two weeks ago and it solved the problem, however the problem came back was told it was the make of the starter motor, however this time the car wouldn’t bump start, and now the starter is working but the engine won’t turn over ?? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Was the old starter motor full of metal filings? Does the starter motor just spin over? In the box for the new starter motor I’d imagine there was a disclaimer regarding the condition of the dual mass flywheel (have seen this paperwork in a few recently). Chances are the dual mass flywheel is knackered and killed your new starter motor.
