Agree, that’s where the extraction, flush and refill machine comes in to play - 99% fluid changed.Apparently 13-14 litres of Lifeguard ZF required for a full refill @£18/litre. Most service kits only supply 7 litres, which is all that comes out with a drain.
Interesting reading in this thread - started by a vendor of a flushing machine, but I see it as relatively impartial.

So I collected the car the weekend previous, however it became apparent the front banana arm change had not fixed the vibration when braking at speed. So we agreed to return it yesterday to fit new discs and pads front and rear, which they did whilst I waited.
Problem solved, hopefully it stays that way.
I read on FB about the pollen filter box and servo box drains. So spent some time clearing these out. A ridiculous amount of crud came out of the former - no doubt if this was a steel bodied car, it would have left an expensive repair job.
New pollen filter and oil filler cap also fitted for good measure.
I’ve really enjoyed getting behind the wheel again, so much so I’ve been taking it out just to go for a drive. I can’t recall the last time I did that, certainly not with the Lex.
It doesn’t feel longer than the Lex but it does feel wider. Not checked the stats but I’m wary of my lane position more than ever.
That’s not to say it’s not fun to drive, because it is. The small steering wheel especially, really helps you connect and make placement around corners a pleasure, and the air suspension keeps roll to a minimum.

Got some new used wheels fitted today - i wasn’t certain they would fit, at least without rubbing somewhere, but the journey home suggests all is well.
XKR wheels, 8.5 + 9.5 x20, with the latter in ET46 flavour.
i think they really suit it, and the staggered setup fills the rear arches nicely and have a slight dish which is so hard to find for these cars.. The tyres are J spec Dunlops, although the rears don’t have too much life left in them.

Yes correct, x308 had the MB g/b
I’m planning a flush on the g/b soon, just need the wallet to recharge after these past 2 months.
Had a great drive in it to/from Oxford today - the new used tyres I think might need replacing though, a definite jitter to them, which I think can be attributed to being out of round. It was definitely smoother on the previous set.
Still, it rolls really well. The E92 M3 owner who tried pulling away would agree, I imagine. The sounds emitted when you put your foot down are too addictive, lots of deep chested snorting, without the overbearing (IMO) noises the MB SC cars make.
I was contemplating fitting freer flowing cats with the standard exhaust but Tom Lenthall advised against it for my ‘stage 1’ requirements, as he doesn’t deem them restrictive with a mild power/torque increase.
A remap then to follow in the coming months....the cosmetics can wait for a while.

New boots fitted - Dunlop Sportmax RT2 255/35/20 and 285/30/20
Thankfully, the thumping from the fronts has gone - strange as they were only 2 yrs old, so they must have been sat for a very long time. So much quieter, but coming from a LS400 on 55 series, 30/35 series tyres will always be harsher and they are. They feel good when pushing on though, very sure fitted indeed. I’m still playing with rear pressures, currently at 33 working upward.
I’ve also just had an Engine Decontamination Treatment undertaken. I was sceptical, as someone on the FB group pointed out, its undertaken with the engine off, so shouldn’t really make a difference....but it has! Firstly, its a fair bit quieter, you can hear other noises from the engine which i couldn’t hear before. It’s smoother too, and there is less lag/delay when you come on/off the throttle. I don’t understand why it works, but its definitely improved my car.
I’m repeating a 300 mile trip shortly that i achieved 26mpg on last week; i’ll report back.
Lastly, after all the preventative work i had undertaken on the coolant system, i’m still topping up more than i’d like, so i’ll get it check out again.

2) slight knock from the NSR suspension (I think) - hoping it’s something loose in the boot!
3) Sort some spots of bubbling/oxidisation on lower edges of doors
Otherwise it’s in fine fettle - goes well, stops well and offers good comfort too for something with 30/35 series tyres and a sports purpose suspension setup.

The Landsails were a fair amount quieter than the Dunlops i replace them with, which surprised me as Landsails tend not to get the best of press on here. I wonder if that is just brand snobbery. They performed well in the rain too.
I never really pushed on with them, admittedly - maybe i was influenced by their budget status. But....in day to day use, i was very happy. They tracked well, softened minor undulations. I feel many people would be very happy with them.
After my current Dunlop experience (Not bad, but not worth 2x the price), i would give Landsails a try if my sizes are available.

I can’t think of a better way to travel for the money. Still liking mine - spent a few grand since purchase, but it has a certain feel good factor which I’ve not experienced in the barges I’ve owned.
