If you’re worried about mpg, don’t buy a Jag, but a more frugal car. Gains if any are gong to be minuscule.

The 2.2D takes a remap well, easily up from 185-195 depending on where you get it done and the torque is impressive. My 2.2 will be getting mapped soon. If you are on FB join some of the X Type groups lots of better advice on there.

You won't get better economy but you can get more power and torque.

My experience with even the most "respected" remapper is frequent clutch replacement and gearbox/driveshaft replacement at 130k of which 70k were remapped. Not a good idea for a car you'll cover big mileage in but if you want to do 10k a year for three years then fill your boots.

Did you get it remapped? There's a lot of good information on the X-Type facebook pages and some well respected people who can help you out., I sold my XType 2.2d in Oct 2016 to get an XFS but My XType was very reliable and remapped to 175bhp on a rolling road. It did 550 miles to a tank easily and went from 46k to 123k with no problem, then I got my XF. Tony Dalton Anglian remaps is the man to talk to. There is a chap with a modified 2.2D with about 220bhp! Eats clutches but fast!
