Hi Guys,

I have now purchased an alternative XKR. Same sort of spec, but not the Black dashboard and without the SAT NAV. Although a year newer and only 42K miles on the clock apossed to 50k, fully serviced, not a mark on it and a years MOT put on it via a dealer for the same money at £23,000.

Had the car for 2 days and have not stopped looking at it since.

Once again, thanks all for your kind help.

Regards,
Nick.

walk away have seen many of these so called repaired jobs, but when you look realy closely there are always problems. normaly water leaks and wind noises and panel gaps all wrong also colour match is all wrong as the paint fades in months to come
I think you will find when selling a written off car you have to declare it, so why did he not tell you. its not to you to find out

HI all having read your views I am compelled to set facts straight before blowing a fuse. statements like buying a damaged repaired car are made by people with limited knowledge. 95% of new vehicles are damaged in transit and repaired before being put on dealers forecourt.( check the docks for bodyshops)catd cars are light damage, cat.c are considered beyond economical repair, cat.b are breaking only and cat.x are stolen recovered. traders are oblidged by law to tell the customer if a car has been subject to an insurance writeoff but private sales are not, as joe public has the right to an independant vehicle inspection so if he/she chooses to ignore that then they obviously accept the vehicle as described. by far the majority of damage repaired vehicles are done to a high standard. if you wish to question this practice then I suggest you start with the insurance companies who write cars off with very light damage, only to pay the owner the market value, sell the vehicle to a salvage yard to sell on again to a competent repairer at a profit, which is then repaired and sold at a profit currently below the market value, leaving everyone who takes out insurance to cover the original loss. at least a thousand cars a week, not counting the cars the police put a destruction notice on because it was in connection with a crime and they range from £300 to £50,000. I repaired a fiesta that was total loss for a customer and while she was on holiday we had it in for a service and my boss had a head on at 60Mph on his way home, and the loss adjuster said if it had not been repaired previous he would have worn the steering column to hospital, instead he walked away. mail me your queries.
