Purchased new F Pace two weeks ago and noticed chip in one of the wheels on arriving home. Took it back the following day and Jaguar said they would sort. They had the car for three days and resprayed the wheel. It is a different colour and texture to the other three wheels. Contacted them today and stated that I want a new wheel and not a shoddy respray. How do I stand?

If it was supplied like that I’d be after a new rim.

Puzzled about why they couldn’t get the finish right though.

About 3 months into my XF I slightly kerbed a rim on a narrow car park entry. I took it to a local guy. He warned me that he couldn’t get hold of the exact colour/metal flake mix but would do his best. Apparently jaguar don’t release this info for wheels (?).

I thought I’d give it a shot and as it happens it’s imossible to tell which rim it is without taking off the car and feeling the overspray in the back.

Someone with full info should have got it right.

They have probably just ‘smart’ repaired the alloy. Cheapest option? Where do you live?

I would recommend Lepsons in Gillingham, Kent or Platinum Alloys (formerly Lepsons) in Swindon, Wilts.

You want a full chemical strip and respray to OEM finish. Will cost about £80.

If they are gloss black alloys, they will chip.

How did you not see the damage on collection? Did it happen on the way home? All being well giving them grief but it sounds like they are being more than accommodating fixing it - if it was a bad repair just ask for it to be done again.
