Been looking at comfortable luxury barges with lovely engine sounds recently, in an effort to curb my enthusiasm for road speed and save my license...

Always liked the X350 XJ, particularly the X358 2007- facelift lick there's a lovely british racing green 4.2 V8 Executive for sale near me with 65,000 miles on the clock, looks tidy. Anything to look out for with these? How reliable are they? Is there potential for bork factor?

The plan will be to use one as a daily and maybe sell my F80 M3 and get a 981 Cayman GTS for a weekend toy.

The want is muchos strong with these... My father and grandfather owned XJs, I feel I need to carry on the tradition. Cheers

Just the usual checks, make sure that everything works and that the suspension functions correctly. Properly maintained, little goes wrong with them.
It may not be the best choice for licence preservation though; they amble past the "speed limiter" in near silence.

I did this 10 months and 13k miles ago for a 90 mile commute - well worth it.

That's very low miles nice find. Mine (x358 57 plate) was nearly double that mileage and didn't have any service history so bought as a bit of a gamble and outside servicing and tyres only cost £130 pounds so far for an abs sensor. Assume yours will have more of a history, so a recent big service to include the spark plugs would show it has been looked after. If not done already I would plan for a full gearbox flush c£350.
The earths and battery are usual weak spots causing spurious issues/fault codes, but in my experience the x358 earth studs are well secured. A recent battery change would be nice to see but not imperative if the dash is clear of faults.
As mentioned the suspension should be supple and if you can, drive it from cold to see how the car behaves.
