so does anyone think RAC warranty £695 for three years maximum £1000 per claim worth it ??
No.

My new warranty was paid for by dealer/Jaguar. It’s normally £934 for the R-S incl. breakdown and one or many claims up to the value of the car.

Max 1K per claim? Don't you really want the warranty for those heart sinking moments when you take the car in for a service and they say you need a new xyz, they're 15 grand plus labour plus VAT.

First upgrade would be the rear tyres unless you already have ones known for improving the rear traction.

I had one of these for about a year and it was stupidly tail happy in anything other than nice dry conditions.

In hindsight I should have upgraded the rears to see if that made a big difference but instead I just traded it in for something slightly less suicidal.

My View is that extra power from a 5.0 supercharged Jag only equals pub bragging rights. Now it’s turning cold and damp, my XFR-S is very tail happy even with MPS4S on the back. Only with dry warm roads, and decent tyres will extra power be worth it. It’s hardly a car that you can keep planted for very long anyhow .

I wouldn’t call £14k worth of engine work in 9 months ‘bullet proof’. Chains and tensioners are becoming a bit too common.
Not saying that, but yours is the exception. If I had the TDV6, I’d not run one without an JLR Warranty..

Fingers crossed mine will be ok....
It’s starting to be a lot more common. Mine’s defo not the exception. In fact it appears that any pre-2018 engines are suspect. There was a new design of tensioner out earlier this year.

Does this affect all 5.0 XKs, supercharged and NA?

definitely not bragging rights ! just love the knowledge that car has that bhp !! i actually drive like miss daisey ! have tried very tenuously to put power down in comfort mode and had traction light on all the time in the dry !! previous car merc cls 500 had chipped and exhaust changed to 330bhp ! although would slip early doors nothing compared to xkr ! just love this car !

It’s possible on all pre 2018 5.0s Whether it actually happens is another question.

Over 154,000 miles on my 2010 XKR 5.0L coupe, pulleyed and tuned with an X-pipe, and it's still a joy to drive and look at. It was so good and quick that it made me stop driving my Pantera and forced me to make the Pantera a more drivable car or I was going to get rid of it. Fortunately, I kept, restored and heavily modified it. Now I drive both for different pleasures.
