Even for CCB?Not sure if they’re the cheapest EBC pads, but my Tamora came with EBC Green and they were terrible, replaced them with DS2500 as soon as I could
That said, I’m still liking the std f-type pads. The XFR-S std pads were awful.

I have just come across your Thread so apologies for the lateness of my reply . I have the F Type V8 R finally haven taken the plunge after 5 or 6 Test Drives of various Models , its my 14th and probably last Jaguar and like yourself I have also had a TVR in the past . I purchased mine from Marshalls in Cambridge , I would say for me anyway that the Pan roof is absolutely essential it makes for a bright airy environment and it gets very claustrophobic when you pull the blind closed . Thus far I have been very impressed with the standard brakes though I had previously fitted EBC red stuff to previous Jaguars the car has only done 5000 miles so time will no doubt tell . I wouldn't be bothered with Ceramics , normal driving on British Roads renders them pointless and an unnecessary additional expense come replacement time . I have a fellow V8 S driving friend who tells me that he doesnt rate the Pirelli Tyres which is something I am keeping an eye on , I had Pirelli fitted to an X350 many years ago and they were a very rough ride over broken surfaces , something which was immediately cured by fitting Falken all around .reddiesel said:

Thanks for the reply, I started this hunt wanting a R convertible, but the Coupe is a better looking car (to my eyes at least), so a pan roof is an absolute must and I'm definitely trying to stay away from CCB, the Tamora had MPS4, and were superb once warm, unfortunately yesterday I missed an absolute beauty, could only have been on Autotrader for an hour and it was gone, Firesand with black pack, pan roof and standard brakes.
Totally agree with your thoughts regarding the Coupe , its also a lot more civilised to live with when it comes to popping a couple of bags into the boot .Have you any thoughts on the different nose cones avaiable ? The first models in my opinion arent as nice as the revamped versions whereas the current model looks a bit odd with the thin lights . Pay attention to the specifications as there are some Poverty spec ones out there .

Another vote for a pano roof. I have one and it is open all the time. Makes a difference and will make it easier to sell later.
There are quite a lot of options so take your time and fine the one you want.

+1 on the pano - mine is open 100% of the time. Closing the blind really does transform the cabin into claustrophobic darkness and I only shut it when parked in the sun.
+1 on the specs too - I seemed to find it was all or nothing when I was hunting. Either they were well specced with seats, leather, audio, design packs, etc or were completely base.

Since starting to keep tabs on the market, it’s definitely been peaks and troughs, both in numbers and specification, definitely in a bit of a lull at present, apart from an odd beauty which I’ve been too slow to act on.
I guess the only consolation is, the longer I wait the more I save, it was going to be a V8S, now it’s an R, this time next year it’ll be a Gallardo

To be fair my experience of the marketplace was pretty similar and its a case of simply watching and waiting . For being a mass produced car a Jaguar F Type V8 R is not a sight you see every day on the road and I suppose thats true of most R Models , in fact I suppose the same applies to the V8 S . Interestingly I saw a nice Vantage on the road yesterday and having considered one of these I did get a bit wistful but when I switched on Dynamic Mode and heard the roar as I quickly nudged the V8 R up to 110mph on a deserted dual carriageway I certainly dont feel short changed . Its a great Jaguar so my advice is hold out for the right car with the right spec ..I guess the only consolation is, the longer I wait the more I save, it was going to be a V8S, now it’s an R, this time next year it’ll be a Gallardo

I'm just over 6' and don't find it at all claustrophobic. The pan roof does make it feel airier, although I doubt it would feel bad without it.

The ceramics are amazing, although I wouldn't miss them if my car had steels. The aesthetic benefit seems to be the biggest for road driving honestly.

I must admit I was surprised by Fonzo and his comments regarding the Pan Roof , all you have to do is close the sunblind to see how dark it makes the cabin seem especially on a dull day . Like you I simply couldn't be without it .Gassing Station | Jaguar | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
