Hi guys, have been tossing around the idea of a XKR for a while but I'm still unsure. I have a real draw to the 2000's XKR's 2003-2004 with the facelift update. looking at cars with around 50-70k on and a lot of service history.is there anything i really need to be aware of ? thanks

I've owned a 2003 XK8 and an XKR and did about 60k largely trouble-free miles in them.

The post 2002 cars are pretty robust. The 4.2 engine and 6 speed gearbox are tough.

The main worry is rust on these cars. They can go very badly along the sills. It's double skinned so it can rust from the inside out. Also subframe mounting points, transmission tunnel, rear corners below the lights, floorpans...

My other concern is that parts are getting scarce for these. So many parts are now either backorder or no longer available.

If I were you I would instead be considering the later X150 and avoiding those dreaded Box Sections and the potential for rust , all of which my fellow enthusiast above has pointed out . The best examples of the earlier car ( X100 ) will certainly be comparably priced with the X150 but its the later car that for me is both the better drive and the better buy . Please dont be seduced with the idea of picking up a cheap bargain because inevitably it will need work
