You also allude to you difficulty dealing with a vehicles shortcomings , as on any Car you will certainly find a few on the F Type so be prepared .
I bought a Porsche GTS after my two V8 F types , a new Vantage after that and I have already Posted on here as to why I did that and what I found afterwards . I dont know how any of this helps the potential purchase of a V6 F type so I am not sure about the question you are asking . If its encouragement to buy an F type V6 then I am sure that on here you will find it and equally if its a few suggestions for an alternative then I am sure you will find that too . In the end only you can decide what car you want and from your Post I dont think you are quite there yet ?

That's interesting Fungle - two cars. I had a Morgan Aero 8 Series 5 in the garage at the same time as I ran my Jaguar V6S. In a moment of madness (annoyed at having to put a third set of tyres on the Jag in a little over 2 years) I sold the Jaguar and kept the Morgan, replacing the V6S as my daily driver with a new F-Pace. I still have the F-Pace (great car) as my daily. However, no sooner had I sold the F-Type, I knew I had made a mistake. I should have sold the Morgan as it had suffered so many issues from new and was back and forth the factory. I dearly regretted selling the V6S. Hence the reason I sold my Porsche 718 Spyder and now I am buying one of the last F Type R's.

I really don't think you will regret buying a V6S. If they were still made new today, I would have chosen one over the F Type R simply because they are so well balanced - the sweet spot.
It's hardly a new dilemma but I have to say a relative base model Cayman has a certain appeal as a functional and highly competent sports car. There is a black '68 plate near me on 18" wheels which looks very purposeful but lacking the visual drama of the F-Type.

What was your biggest regret about selling the V6S?

The biggest regret about selling the V6S? It was such a good all rounder for daily use whilst looking so damn good. As I mentioned earlier, when the F Type was released I was lucky enough to be invited by Jaguar to test drive each variant in both coupe and convertible form. The V6S was by far the most complete car, so well balanced, plenty of useable power but not too much like the V8's in pure rear wheel trim. As I said earlier I am sure the AWD V8's have sorted many of the issues with handling (although for some they enjoy the "on the edge" handling of a rear wheel V8).

If I had kept the V6S and let the Morgan go I could have bought myself some other toy for the garage and continued using the V6S as my daily drive - far more exciting and rewarding than my current F Pace (a good car all the same but no where near as exciting). I never tired of looking at the F Type and I still always double take when I see them, which is not as often as one might think.

I had a V6 Coupe as my daily for 3 years. Fantastic car & only moved it on because i wanted to scratch the Aston itch with a Vantage. Totally reliable, it didnt need anything other than routine servicing. If you get one get shot of the P-Zero standard fit tyres they are truly awful. A set of PS4S totally transform the car. I bought mine based on condition/colour/options & ended up with a non S 3.0 that had almost every option in a stunning colour combo. I added the Velocity AP software tune to take it to 416hp & in conjunction with the better tyres it was a very fast car - nobody would need more performance on UK roads.

Currently got a 2015 V6S AWD and I bloody love it! It really puts a smile on my face every time I drive it and the only thing I would replace it with, if finances would allow, would be a SVR or a new shape AM Vantage.

Previous cars were 2019 Hyundai i30N, 2015 Mercedes S63, 2017 BMW M4

My S63 had significantly better qualify leather and trim inside, however that's not to say that the Jag is bad, it's just not an S class.

The M4 I foundreally fun for the first few weeks and then quickly became rather bored of it. It didn't do anything bad but it just sort of felt like a slightly sportier version of my 320D estate, which is ridiculous to say but it just didn't excite me.

The i30N was amazing fun, up until the Jag it was the most fun car I'd ever owned. It didn't have a great interior, wasn't particularly fast and it sometimes felt a bit chavvy when you're pulling up in the supermarket and the exhaust is farting like you're arriving for the local Max Power rejects meetup. Having said that, it was lovely to drive, for a 2l engine is sounded fantastic, the rev-matching on the manual gearbox made it more forgiving if the mrs was driving and, most of all, I just wasn't precious about the car in the slightest. It was a car to daily that I could also have fun in but on a country road I wasn't worried about budging over on to the verge or having the bushes touching the bodywork etc.


So how's the Jag? Truly wonderful! It's at a pricepoint that I'm not overly precious about, the crackles and pops when coming off the accelerator are somewhat addictive, it's civilised enough to arrive with the exhaust valves closed and not feel like an idiot... Most importantly, we don't feel like we're 'trying too hard' when we arrive places in this car, despite it getting loving looks from people. The Mrs said the big differences to her is that she doesn't feel like a target when she's getting out of it in slightly rougher areas, unlike when we test drove the Aston Martin and swapped drivers in a slightly shady area or other times where she's been in cars that are a little more flashy.

A really interesting post J1990. Different car brands do tend to have personalities that others either loathe or love. I used to find driving my Aero8 people would always wave and cars always stopped to let me out. I guess it was the Britishness people liked and the reminder of a bygone era.

My neighbour had a Ferrari 488 Spider. He said people never let him out and were somewhat aggressive towards him. The Astons I guess can be seen as a bit flash which is one of the reasons I opted for a new F Type. Beautiful as Astons are, I like the "under dog" feeling with an F Type.

I remember with my old V6S people admired it and stopped to talk. Again, it may be the British persona they exude. Glad you're enjoying your V6S. Brilliant engine married to a beautiful design.
